Yesterday evening we had a mild thunderstorm with a little rain right around sunset. Subsequently, we were rewarded with a double rainbow and a cloud show.
The mammatus clouds appeared at the the trailing edge of the storm as it passed from west to east. These cloud formations are quick to develop and just as quick to dissipate. I took a few shots in my front yard but quickly realized I needed to be away from the residential streets so I hopped on my bike and pedaled over to the city park area.

The right most hill is called Steep Mountain and for good reason....it's steep! It's only 6900 feet above sea level to the summit with a starting altitude of 5K feet...so only 2K of vertical climbing to summit and I've hiked it dozens of times over the last few years. Good practice for climbing the 11K footers. My personal best summit time is 23.5 minutes up and 4 minutes down running and glissading on a gravel bed.
