After a bluster, wintry April, May burst onto the scene with reckless abandon! Our Spring migrant and summer resident birds are streaming in, providing an endless parade of color and glorious song.
Some of our smallest visitors here in western Wisconsin are also the most vibrant. And sometimes enigmatic! This little male Pine Warbler (Setophaga pinus) may leave us to find a suitable nesting territory father north or even southeast. Or, if an agreeable mate appears, he might even stay and nest in our tall pines here in at Punchinello Prairie Wildlife Sanctuary.
Whatever our sunny little fellow decides, we're delighted he's chosen to be with us for awhile!
Welcome, May! Here we go a-merrying!
