Same tulip flower in our yard, images taken 2-3 days apart. I'm fond of its vibrant orange color.

Cultivation of the tulip began in Iran (Persia), probably in the 10th century. It is believed the first tulips in the United States were grown near Spring Pond at the Fay Estate in Lynn and Salem, Massachusetts in mid-1860s. The Netherlands is the world's main producer of commercial tulip plants, producing as many as 3 billion bulbs annually, the majority for export. [Wikipedia]
