R.S Hawks are medium sized colorful hawks that got their name from their reddish brown feathers on their upper wings that make them appear red. They’re characterized by their brown and white checkered wings, a warm red patterned chest and a white and brown striped tail.

R.S Hawks have quite the diet of small mammals, lizards, snakes, amphibians and occasionally even other birds! Their eyesight makes hunting a breeze, they can actually see 8 times better than humans!

My favorite thing about these birds is their unique mating ritual where they are known for “sky dancing.” During courtship, they will soar the skies together occasionally even flying upside down. They’re also known to be one of the noisiest raptors during this time, their screams can be heard for miles.
