Almost Full Moon rising from behind Setting Sunlit Cumulus.
At 6.0 pm on Sunday 5th, the 97% illuminated almost full Moon was observed rising in the ENE from behind setting sunlit cumulus clouds close to the horizon. Although the clouds delayed its appearance by a quarter of an hour the wait was well worthwhile as it was a beautiful spectacle seeing the Moon being intermittently uncovered by a small bright orange cumulus formation brushing past beneath. As no tripod was available this was captured in a sequence of 25 hand-held still images taken in quick succession. These have been laboriously registered to reduce unwanted camera movement and used to produce the accompanying time-lapse photomontage.
