Like yesterday, I was fortunate again today, enjoying clear skies during the Venus and Jupiter conjunction. The two planets have now come together with a separation of only 33 minutes of arc, just over half-a-degree. In this photograph, Jupiter is at top and Venus at bottom. My latitude of 18 degrees north helps a bit with events like these, because the ecliptic lies straight up, which allowed the planets to be seen at 23 degrees above the western horizon. This image was made at 6:59 pm, near the middle of the nautical twilight, when the sun was 8 degrees below the horizon. I also made a video, which can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uySRigbxrA
