I was fortunate to enjoy clear skies in anticipation of the Venus and Jupiter conjunction. Still one day to go, but the planets are getting closer together at 1 degree and 20 minutes of arc. In this photograph, Jupiter is at top and Venus at bottom. Because of my latitude of 18 degrees north, the ecliptic happened to be almost perpendicular to the horizon and the planets shone at 22 degrees above the western horizon. This image was made at 7:04 pm, right in the middle of the nautical twilight, when the sun was 9 degrees below the horizon.
