Driving north to the Washington County Grasslands to try and spot a snowy or short eared owl (which migrate south to our area for the winter), instead I spent the morning with a Barred Owl. Even though they are primarily nocturnal, they are known to hunt during the day, which this one was doing. I thought the last photo was nice, resembling an angel with it's head bowed.
