This cinder cone is located along the east rift of Maunakea, Hawaii. It is 9,600 feet in elevation and is part of the Laupahoehoe Volcanic Series that erupted 70,000 years ago. There are many kapu ( forbidden) signs around the perimeter of this cone discouraging people from hiking or riding ATV up its slope. This cone, like many others around Maunakea, are religious sites that are represented by a deity. Many ancient Hawaiians bury their dead in this locations.
