This week Earth passed through trails of debris left behind by comet 55P/Tempel–Tuttle, producing the Leonid meteor shower. Meteors associated with the Leonids appear to radiate away from Leo, a constellation depicting the Nemean Lion, which I have highlighted in this image. While I did not observe the massive outburst that some optimistic forecasters had predicted, it was still an enjoyable display, with many other minor meteor showers also adding to the night.
The bright object near the horizon is the Moon.
