I went to the Pinnacles National Park as a 1-year anniversary trip for my hip replacement to take a hike. It was also timed to see the Orionids meteor shower emanating from the constellation Orion most active Oct 22nd after midnight. I was up sometime after 1 a.m. and saw an occasional shooting star. I counted 8 over the 50 minutes I had the camera going. But at 1:42 a.m. I saw a close meteor zip thru the atmosphere and it left a trail that lasted a few minutes! I guess due to the clouds creeping in or atmospheric dust? It was spectacular, to say the least! You can see the Orion constellation just above the tree line right of center, and Mars closer to the center of the image. Taken from the park's campground.
