Cirrocumulus clouds spread out for miles in the midafternoon sky today. They’re sometimes called ‘mackerel skies’ because they can have a grayish color which makes the clouds look a bit like fish scales. Cirrocumulus clouds do not generate rainfall, but can mean cold weather.
