The night sky was not the best for imaging at the recent Nova East star party but conditions improved during the day on Sunday, allowing me to capture sunspot group AR3089 and an impressive nearby prominence. AR3089 is currently lined up with the Earth and has the potential to produce X-class flares. I have inverted the surface features of the Sun in this hydrogen alpha image to improve contrast. As a result, cooler areas such as sunspots are white instead of black.

Lunt 40mm solar telescope and ZWO ASI290MM camera with GSO 2.5X Barlow on an ES iEXOS-100 mount.

Best 10% of 1500 frames for surface detail and 500 frames for prominence detail were stacked using Autostakkert, IMPPG was used to sharpen and adjust levels, the image of surface detail and the image of the prominence were combined and additional post-processing and false color was added using Photoshop.
