Dark feathers that garland her neck indicate that she is a female-a juvenile female osprey. I watched her cry intermittently for a long long time for either parent to bring her food. Then she flapped her wings and jumped to a different position on the nest and cried for food once more. This lasted awhile. Then so suddenly she flew from the nest, first flying close to the ground then soaring higher, circling the ball park, and finally resting on a tall light post about 75 feet away from the nest. I believe this is her first flight! I mentally cheered for her! The photo was taken just before she lifted off from the nest.
