This was a fun image to capture with a long focal length telescope.
The Whirlpool Galaxy is a spiral galaxy located about 31 million light-years from Earth, in the constellation Canes Venatici. It is near the end of the "handle" of the Big Dipper.
This galaxy is interacting with another nearby galaxy, NGC 5195.
