Venus and Jupiter were closest to each other on May 1, but Taipei was cloudy and rainy for days. Want to see how close they are for this rare Venus-Jupiter conjunction? I drove nearly 200 kilometers to Taichung. Finally, around 3:50 in the morning, I saw Venus and Jupiter appear side by side in the eastern clouds! Although it only appeared for a moment, I was really happy to see the two brightest stars juxtaposed in the sky! There is also a fainter Mars in the upper right of the picture, and Saturn is too far to fit in the frame. The Venus-Jupiter conjunction makes this year's planetary season even more fascinating.
