This image was taken about 12-14 hours ahead of the predicted peak time for the 2022 Quadrantid meteor shower. Only a few meteors, mainly small ones, were captured in this session that totalled more than 300 images. However, the night was blessed with an aurora glow on the northern horizon. The orange glow in the East-SE, is the light pollution from the Ottawa region, about 180 km distant. The night was dark and crisp, but the Ottawa River in the foreground was steaming in the -25C temperature, to create the transient low level clouds. The river had frozen over by the end of the night. Hoping for more clear skies.....

Nikon D750, SIGMA 14-24mm lens, shot at 14 mm F2.8, 15 second exposure, ISO 1600.

Loaded this base image and merged with 8 meteor steak layers in Photoshop.
