Very active quiescent solar prominence, hedgerow configuration, on the south east limb. Over a matter of minutes plasma can be seen to move laterally in both directions between the prominences foot points. Small surges can be seen along the upper chromosphere, beneath the prominence. The prominence is roughly 50,000 miles tall and 200,000 miles wide. Over the following two days, much of the prominence plasma lifted away. A wonderful start for solar observing in the new year.
