Heading for its inferior conjunction on Jan. 09, 2022, Venus is diving into the western horizon at dusk. Consequently, the fraction of its illuminated surface (currently 9.1%) is getting smaller and smaller as its crescent grows in apparent diameter (55.5"), thus looking thinner and thinner to us. The photo shows it as captured by the camera only with no telescope attached. Note some signs of colors and deformations hinting at scintillation.
