A hovering fly (or syrphid flies, family Syrphidae) on an ipomea (morning glory) flower. The color of these flies resembles that of bees and wasps, scaring off potential predators (Batesian mimicry). Adult flies feed mainly on nectar and pollen and are important pollinators.
