The nova V1405 was had a great outburst last week that lasted from about May 8-14 increasing its brightness from about mag 7.4 to 5.4. The nova has now returned to mag 7.4 and this image shows its current state. The inset identifies the nova. The Bubble nebula is to the left and about half of the open cluster M52 is below. This is the brightest nova observed since 2013 and an interesting target to watch it evolve. There is a lot of data being posted by both professional and amateur astronomers on this nova.
