Conjunction of Mercury and the Pleiades captured in infrared. Mercury captured at 8 pm local time, altitude of 5 degrees above the horizon in the fading light. Capture was done in 830 nm cutoff infrared as both Mercury and the Pleiades are bright in IR and about a degree apart. A Redcat 51 mm telescope was used with a Nikon Z6 modified for 830 nm IR by Lifepixel. The Redcat was mounted on a tripod because it is too low to the horizon for an EQ mount. IR cuts through the near horizon haze to image this conjunction.

This is a stack of 36 x 0.5 images. The stack was processed from RAW with photoshop and false colored to blue to make it easier on the eye.
