This image shows the sun at zenith on Zero Shadow Day at my location. It has been captured with a Newtonian telescope stood vertically looking straight up - WITHOUT USING A MOUNT. At local noon on a zero shadow day, the Sun is exactly straight up - causing objects like cylinders and cubes to cast no shadow at all. I turned the usual experiments on its head and decided to look up (with solar filter and all usual solar observation precautions) I ensured that my telescope is level and so that at local noon, the sun drifted into view when it was at its highest point in the sky.
