The days leading up to December 20, when the picture was taken, were beautiful clear days. December 20 started promising, but veil clouds appeared in the late afternoon. The sun set with clouds deep on the horizon in the southwest. I took the camera and tripod and drove with the car to my spot against my better judgement. From the distance it didn't look promising. However, I set up the camera and tripod, it was chilly, and I waited - and then they appeared, still veiled by the clouds but shyly becoming brighter and brighter. The conditions were far from perfect. To my surprise it appears that I managed to capture four of the Jupiter moons.
