Leonid Meteor Shower 2020

East Point Lighthouse in New Jersey has been a favorite place of mine for quite some time now. My first visit was in 2005, and I fell in love with the darker skies and the old rustic brick lighthouse. Over the years, the shoreline bay waters has chewed away at the beach threatening the future of this beacon of light. Recently, there has been some attempts to restore it, inside and out. A new coat of paint and interior remodeling have slowly taken place over the last few years, but the real problem is the rising water and lack of help from the State of New Jersey.

I decided to come back here for a night and spend some time with this lighthouse under a star filled sky. I set up my Nikon D850 in this spot, and another camera on the other side of the lighthouse to capture it from different angle and different area of the sky. I set the camera to shoot for 3 hours. I have not sifted through all my shots during that night of November 16/17th, 2020, but this fireball sure did stand out.
