Cool temperatures and clear sky enabled me to capture the 0.86% cresecent moon as it cleared the horizon along the blue ridge escarpment, 30 miles distant. From the Funnel Top Overlook (mm410) on the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Asheville, NC, the Tryon Ridge is prominent. The moon is mid-upper right. I was able to capture the moon just at it cleared the horizon and for about 15 minutes total before is disappeared into the brightening sky of morning.
