Took this photograph of the first quarter moon yesterday night when it was 44.4% illuminated. Moon Direction was 238.28° WSW and altitude 37.87°. Distance from Earth was 375,855 km when this photograph was taken. The photo was cropped to show the exact location of the of the final Moon Landing mission of NASA's Apollo Program, the Apollo 17(December 7-19, 1972). After looking up on various sources from the internet and the books, I could pinpoint the almost exact location of Apollo 17 landing site which was clearly evident in this photo.
I am amazed how a camera like this, without the aid of additional lens or equipment could bring me to the landing site ! At the right is the east margin of Mare Serenitatis, with the 95 km diameter crater Posidonius at the central horizon, the basalt-flooded Le Monnier crater to the south, and the landing site of Apollo 17 in the Taurus–Littrow valley. A relatively small crater Bessel (16 km) could also be seen on the left side of this photo.
