The conjunction of the waxing gibbous moon with Saturn and Jupiter at the stroke of midnight that I had happened to witness from my window. I had came to know that conjunction is a term that is used to describe any two objects in the solar system that align, such as two planets, the moon and a planet, the sun and a planet, or spacecraft for instance. While the three objects in this photo appears to be close to one another, as viewed from Earth, they are not actually close in space. And interestingly, there is no need for any special equipment to see this celestial sighting as they are easily visible to the naked eye. And moreover, I had captured the image from my handphone which clearly shows the alignment. Being a first timer to Earthsky, I wanted to share this image with the Earthsky community.
