Sturgeon Moon - The second full moon of summer, and the full moon of August, is known as the Sturgeon Moon. This concept originated with native Americans, particularly the Algonquin tribe, because they believed this moon helped them catch larger fish such as the Sturgeon, in the Great Lakes region. This photo was captured about 30 miles south of the Lake Erie shoreline.
