This is atop the parking garage of my small town in Upstate New York. The tower is called Little Joe Tower and is part of Corning, Inc where it once was used to make glass for thermometers. There's a lot of light pollution so I never "saw" the comet with my eyes, but I used an app called Photopils to identify where the comet should be and I hoped to get an iconic shot of the comet arching past the tower. After taking a number of photos and zooming in on my camera's screen, there it was! It was further to the west than two nights prior, but perfectly placed for my anticipated shot.

I used a Fuji X-T3 mirrorless camera with a Fuji 16-80mm lens at 36mm, f/4, and 800iso. The camera was on a Three Legged Thing L Bracket and Tripod and I used a remote shutter release cable.

This photograph is two different RAW exposures. The first exposure is a 10 second shot of the sky, overexposed by 2 stops. The second exposure is a 1.5 second shot of the tower, underexposed by 2 stops to get rid of blown highlights. I edited and merged the two exposures in Adobe Lightroom. And then in Photoshop I used a clone stamp to fix some parts of the American Flag that had ghosting from the exposure merge.
