Comet NEOWISE rises just before the Sun over Codorus State Park in Hanover, Pennsylvania early in the morning on July 9, 2020.

NEOWISE, discovered in March of this year, made its closest approach to the Sun on July 3 and will be nearest to Earth on July 22 at a distance of 64 million miles (not that close).

While you can see the reasonably bright comet with the naked eye, using binoculars will make the experience much better, but you'd better do it soon, as the comet will begin to transition into an evening sky object later this month, after which it will begin to fade as it moves away from the Sun. Currently, the comet can be seen in the NE sky, below the star Capella and in the constellation Auriga, about 45-60 minutes before sunrise.
