This picture is taken from my home garden at Shikaripura. It is the Argemone mexicana, a species of poppy found in Mexico and now known to be naturalized in many parts of the world. It is widely used in many parts of India and during the colorful Hindu festival Holika Dahan, people worship by offering flowers when it is in its maximum flowering phase during March when the Holi festival is celebrated. It is also referred to as "kateli ka phool” in India.
