This image was taken at the opposite direction of the sunrise, that is the west this morning. This is referred to as the anticrepuscular rays. Based on my reading and knowledge, the rays converge towards the antisolar point which means the sky opposite the sun. So if want want to see such rays , they must look at opposite the sun. It is believed that anticrepuscular rays are fainter and more difficult to see than crepuscular rays.
