The forecast was not looking good for the conjunction of Venus and Mercury on 5-21-20. As the day went on, I could see that there would likely be some gaps in the clouds around sunset. I decided to head to the top of a hill at Riverside Cemetery in Macon, and I got a window of about 10 minutes where both planets were visible.
Venus is easy to spot as long as it isn't too close to the Sun, but Mercury is a different story. It never gets very high and it's helpful to have a nearby object to help you find it. Some people will live an entire lifetime and never see Mercury.
I shot these with my Canon EOS Ra camera and a 70-200mm lens. The wider shot was at 104mm and the zoomed in shot was at 200mm.
