The waxing gibbous moon, 74.8% lit. I have been waiting a few months for clear skies so I could take a picture at this stage. It happens every month, 4-5 days before the moon is full.

It is called the Golden Handle. Look on the left edge. Daylight has finally begun to hit the peaks of the Jura Mountains, but the Sea of Showers to the right of the mountains will still be in darkness for about another day.

Call me strange, but I find this fascinating! Even Galileo was aware of this, several centuries ago!

Canon t5i with Sigma 150-600 and Sigma TC-2001 2x teleconverter.

Cropped and slight color adjustment.
