Cumulus Cloud Develops Pileus - Part 1
At 5.53 on Monday afternoon one of two small Cumulus clouds in front of the setting Sun unexpectedly developed a beautiful Pileus (cap) which lasted for only three minutes before being assimilated by the head of the cloud rising from below. The striated convex structure of the pileus which developed weakly iridescent fringes was enhanced by being silhouetted by bright light from the setting sun.
