This image highlights some of my favourite (northern hemisphere) winter sights. I have been working on annotating some of my wide-field images to better familiarize myself with deep sky objects and navigating the night sky. I captured this image near a rural pond, roughly 40 kilometres southeast of Edmonton. Despite being kilometres away Edmonton, or even the nearest town, and just to the south of a local dark sky preserve, light pollution still permeated the skies. This was the first clear and relatively warm (-12 °C) night that we had in weeks.
