Rainbow Pileii
Very hot sunshine on Wednesday afternoon caused a build-up of some spectacular cumulus clouds in the vicinity of Mutare. As these grew in height, uprising moisture condensed on top of some to form tiny ice crystals which refracted sunlight to produce characteristic shining pileus caps. These only persisted for a few minutes with early ones remaining colorless and later ones developing rainbow colours as the Sun descended in the sky.
