The Asian koel though known to be omnivorous, consuming a variety of insects, caterpillars, eggs and small vertebrates, seen here holding on to a fruit in its beak. Adults tend to feed mainly on fruit and according to wikipedia, they sometimes defend fruiting trees that they forage in, chasing away other frugivores. This Asian Koel was just within 5 metres from the block of flat that i photographed enabling me to capture the moment.
