Title: Moon Over Los Alamos. Photo taken from my back porch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The small city in the photo is Los Alamos--home of the famous nuclear facility. The Jemez mountains are seen behind the city and are over 11,000 feet in height. Over the ridge at the bottom of the photo is the Rio Grande river that flows between my home and Los Alamos, which is about 25 miles away. The valley to the right of the moon is the Valles Caldera, the remains of a super volcano that erupted about one million years ago. Lava flows in the Jemez Mountains have occurred as recently as 40,000 years ago. Valles Caldera is now a National Park.
