Mercury transit photographed from a rest stop near Selah, Washington. A very quiet sun makes it much easier to see the tiny planet against the huge sun. The weather was a factor. The clouds were in play. Trying to image the transit between clouds was a challenge. I didn't get any completely clean images but this was one of the best of the morning and shortly after this image was taken, the clouds effectively blocked further attempts.

Nikon D810, Sigma 150-600mm lens, Sigma 1.4x teleconverter. Full aperture (solarlite) filter from Thousand Oaks.

Converted from RAW to .jpg with slight lighting adjustments in Lightroom
