When the illumination phase falls below 20% the Earthshine on the Crescent Moon becomes more apparent.
After Lunar Day 25, high magnification observing of the Moon becomes more difficult
as the Crescent appears lower in the sky before sunrise. Atmospheric distortion rears it's ugly head.
