Black Balsam is a high bald along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Brevard, North Carolina. It's a popular spot for sunrise and sunset as you get near 360 degree views. Sometimes the fog completely closes out the view and you're left with visibility approaching zero. But don't leave too soon, magic can still happen. As the sun rises higher the mist begins to burn off and this morning I found myself between the sun and a wall of fog blowing through the gap directly opposite the sun. Sure enough, there was a fogbow that came into and out of view as the mist blew all around me. That's the shadow of my head right in the center. It's not often you can see your own aura. :-)

Nikon D750, Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom, ND4 Gradient Filter.

While the fogbow was obvious to the naked eye it was quite subtle in the bright morning light. In post-processing I added contrast and Dehaze. The dehaze brings out the blue sky helps define the colors of the fogbow
