A Golden Treat - Last Quarter Moon Appears
A few minutes after mid-night on 25th July, the half illuminated Last Quarter Moon with horizontal terminator was captured appearing and then rising above a hill in Cecil Kop Nature Reserve as shown in the accompanying nine frame mosaic. The golden colour was due to absorption of light by atmospheric haze close to the horizon.
