Bruce's fine article on the Omega Nebula inspired me to capture and share an image thru my large binoculars.
You really need a dark sky and more importantly, your eyes need to be dark adapted to really appreciate this small gem (it ain't like the Orion nebula!). Even then, you need to have patience when observing. Use averted vision to bring out the fine details. It's worth the effort! Of course this looks great thru a small scope at 50X.
I always refer to M17 as the Swan Nebula. It really looks like a swan!
