I first noticed the unusual high-altitude glow when looking to the north from the east side of my house in western Nevada's Carson Valley. Then I walked around to the west side of the house and saw even brighter clouds when looking to the NW. The mountain silhouette seen here is the Carson Range (an offshoot of the Sierra Nevada Range between California and Nevada).
