This is a photo of the waning moon that I have been waiting to catch for a long time. The thinnest crescent I have ever photographed is around 5% of illumination and this was on 4 March, Monday. I made up my mind then and there that I will get up the following morning to see if I can catch the thin crescent at around 1.7% illumination.
So, I was up at around 5:30 am. I looked to the east. I was disappointed. There were patches of clouds just over the horizon. There was no way of seeing the thin moon. I just stood there, hoping the clouds would clear. Suddenly, i noticed a thin orangey moon appearing fairly high up above the horizon. I just started clicking away . And Venus was also shining brilliantly way above the moon.
The end result is the photo I have submitted.
Thank you
