After days of clouds finally when the skies cleared up a bit in New England I decided to aim for a sunrise shot at Old Orchard beach pier. I started at 3:30 from my house to reach the pier at 5:00 AM. Having the thoughts of sunrise photography I completely missed the magnificent rising crescent moon that was to be in the sky. As I neared my destination I was treated with this beautiful delight. I had only few minutes to setup my gear, compose, focus and decide the exposure before the moon would hit the cloud bank. Shooting a landscape for the first time ever with a telephoto Tamron 70-200 was also a challenge. But it worked out well. This is the result of a totally unplanned but gorgeous moon rise in the Eastern sky.
