Western Snowy Plover, 7 Feb 2019, Santa Rosa Creek Beach, Cambria, CA. The central coast of California, including Cambria, where I live, poses both aesthetic privilege and ethical challenge to us humans. The beauty lures so many, and the ethical tasks get set aside too often in the name of "growth" and "development."
The threatened Western Snowy Plover have returned to the Santa Rosa Creek Beach in Cambria, after staying away for at least 16 years. Perhaps they'll decide it's nest-worthy this year.
