From the tropics, I can only observe Ursa Major when it transits the meridian in my Northern sky.
Two of my favorite DSO's straddle the handle of the Big Dipper: the Whirlpool and Pinwheel Galaxies.
Of course the ubiquitous artificial satellite has to make an appearance.
